Typescript of journal of Avery Sylvester, Captain of the brigs Pallas and Chenamus, 1843-1845, during voyage from Boston, Massachusetts, to the Pacific Northwest. Sylvester describes encounters with the Chinook Indians, experiences at Fort George, and travels up the Willamette River. Also includes descriptions of time spent in the Galapagos and accounts of time spent in Oahu, Hawaii (then known as the Sandwich Islands) with descriptions of native Hawaiians.
